Iconic Sydney Eastern Suburbs & Beaches Private Charter
Perhaps best known for its iconic beaches and strong surfing culture, Sydney has another side to it that many may overlook. With rolling hills and endless sun, Sydney has cemented itself as a serious contender on the skate map.
From Circular Quay to Bondi Beach the skateboarding culture in Sydney has spread its way throughout the city, so it’s no wonder so many of skate’s biggest names riders have come from Sydney, or why so many head down under to embrace Sydney’s thriving skate scene.
To coincide with Oakley In Residence: Sydney – a creative community space that celebrates the creativity in the Sydney skate community – we’ve wrapped up the harbour city’s top five skate spots.
Sydney Harbour Bridge The base of the bridge is a spot that skaters regularly hit up. While there are only limited windows to nail the trick before you get the boot, it’s worth trying for the must-have Sydney skate shot.
The Rocks
The old rocks rail is one of Sydney’s oldest skate spots, where you can spend hours trying to master the trick. That, combined with the Australian heritage, tall staircases and ledges, make The Rocks one of the top spots in town.
Martin Place
A big walkway through the heart of the city, the central business centre for Sydney also doubles as one of the most popular skate spots in the city. Outside business hours, you’ll always find a group taking advantage of the sloped space complete with stairs, ramps and chairs.
Macquarie Seven Rails
Located a little further out in North Ryde, this spot is popular for its epic staircases, which form a perfect 7 set. You can skate there anytime, as the place is well lit.
Bondi Beach
It may not be a secret spot, but the bowl, ramps, stairs and promenade make for an unreal skate every time. Not to mention you have one of Australia’s favourite beaches as your backdrop.
If you’re keen to learn more about Sydney skate culture, and catch up with others in the local community, head to Oakley In Residence: Sydney. The creative community space, which also features a free skate spot, is open to the public until 29th November at 74 Commonwealth Street, Surry Hills.
Throughout the month, it will host workshops, exclusive exhibitions, interactive panel discussions, art installations, athlete meet ups, skate sessions, film screenings and more.
