We at BBM love an evening tipple, and we’re assuming you do too! We’ve found the top 5 whiskey bars in Sydney for all you people looking for a quality drink.
Shirt Bar
A monthly session is held at the Shirt Bar for all the ladies and gentlemen to come and enjoy themselves in the wide selection of whiskies. What is indulged in mostly are the bourbon whiskey, with several different varieties available for tasting. Everyone also gets an introduction to the distillation of the whiskey and the opportunity is there to taste it during various stages of its distillation process, a unique experience indeed.

Shady Pines Saloon
The patrons will approach the bar and perhaps not exactly be sure what they will desire to drink and thats when the barman takes to the stage. The staff are full of recommendations and a great source of information and when the customer finally find one it’s with a smile on their face.
Ardbeg Alligator, a single-malt peat whiskey with a smokey edge. Aside from the taste, the visual splendour of the bottle and the accompanying alligator sculpture adds a cherry on top.
A personal cocktail recommendation is the Mint Julep, it’s based on bourbon and mixed with a sugar, mint and a good serving of crushed ice.

Miss Chu Bondi Tuckshop
The self-proclaimed “Queen of Rice Paper Rolls” owns quite a few establishments, as a true entrepreneur and a keen artistry penetrating every inch of her creations and the Bondi Tuckshop is no different. At the back they keep over 80 different whiskies, surely enough to keep even the pessimists happy.
If the whiskey alone doesn’t do it for you it might be worth considering that the overall atmosphere and charisma of Miss Chu flows throughout the whole construction. At the café side of things they have a few cocktails on offering, but nothing overzealous.

The Baxter Inn
300 whiskies. No, it has nothing to do with the movie. But The Baxter Inn comes out on top of the peat- and rice based whisky universe through its ridiculously large selection. Once you enter the bar you see wooden panels, and plenty of customers.
With over 300 different whiskies the staff are greatly educated on the philosophies behind the different tastes. They are happy to chat around, even during busy hours. A strongly recommended whiskey that’s available here is The Smokehead 18 Year Old.

Gnome Espresso

With the front of a café, this bar is put in a different light during the night-time. With a wide selection of rare and finely brewed whisky, Gnome Espresso is a great place to let your whisky spirits loose.
If you wish to enjoy something else during a breather or just as a way to finish your whiskey session, then coffee is highly recommended. Gnome Espresso has top-of-the-line coffee, and a hot espresso at the end of a whisky session nicely melds the two taste experiences into one.
