Bali’s Ubud Food Festival 2016
Visit one of Asia’s top food festivals
If you ever needed an excuse to visit the tropical paradise of Ubud, the second annual Food Festival is most definitely a good one. Southeast Asia’s most exciting new event will showcase Indonesia’s diverse cuisine, innovative chefs and extraordinary local produce will descend on Bali’s culinary capital.
Running from 27-29th May, this three day culinary adventure has Indonesian food as the star of the show. Ubud Food Festival is Southeast Asia’s most exhilarating new gastronomic event showcasing the country’s diverse cuisine, ground-breaking chefs and amazing local produce.
In attendance will be the archipelago’s most celebrated culinary icons and leading restaurateurs, as well as world class international chefs to experience the very best in Indonesian tastes, plates and creative cuisine. Some of the entertainment guests will be treated to include high-energy live cooking demonstrations and fiery competitions, fine dining experiences created by award-winning chefs, in-depth culinary conversations, plus workshops, food tours, markets, live music, film screenings, yoga and a whole heap of other food-focused fun.
‘Asia’s Best Female Chef’ 2016 winner, Margarita Fores, will be just one of the big names, alongside MoVida restaurant owner, Frank Camorra, and YouTube sensation and fish-sustainability champion Bart Van Olphen. The ‘ibu’ (mother) of Indonesian cuisine and much loved TV chef Sisca Soewitomo and Indonesia’s first Michelin-star chef Mandif Warokka will also be making appearances plus many more acclaimed culinary professionals.
Highlights of this year’s program include a range of events at the Festival’s Hub – Taman Kuliner – including early morning Bahasa Indonesia lessons and bubur (Balinese rice porridge), a Blue Ribbon Bali Babi (Bali heritage pig) show, a photo journey with Nigella Lawson and Bill Grainger cookbook photographer Petrina Tinslay, and a junior chef carving competition.
Throw in a wood-fired suckling pig, local craft beer, a rooftop cook-out, a nose-to-tail babi (pork) degustation and all sorts of other special events and you’re not going to want to miss this fabulous food extravaganza.
