Upcoming Release Of Peter Gabriel – So (Classic Album)

Shock & Eagle Rock Entertainment release Classic Albums: So, the next installment in the Classic Albums series on DVD and Blu-Ray on September 21.

The release tells the story of the making of Peter Gabriel’s 1986 album So. It was Gabriel’s fifth solo album and the first one to have a title. The album spawned a number of hits, such as his duet with Kate Bush, Don’t Give Up. Further hit singles included Sledgehammer, Big Time and In Your Eyes which drove So multi-platinum sales, the No. 1 spot in the UK and No. 2 in the US. In Australia ‘So’ reached #5 on the album chart and ‘Don’t Give Up’ reached #5 on the singles chart.

Made with the full authorization and co-operation of the artists, the documentary features contribution of many of those involved in the making of the album and accompanying videos. Those featured include Peter Gabriel himself, co-producer Daniel Lanois, engineer Kevin Killen and musicians Jerry Marotta, Laurie Anderson, Tony Levin and Manu Katché and many more.

So was an album of the MTV generation and distinctive videos for tracks Sledgehammer, Red Rain, Big Time and Don’t Give Up were key factors in So’s success.

A re-mastered version of the album will be released by Real World/EMI in September on CD, triple CD and a super deluxe box set.

So (Classic Album) offers a unique perspective on the motivations behind and the creation of this album and there are more than 30 minutes of Bonus Features, not included in the broadcast version (SBS TV dates TBC).
