Visit Caversham Wildlife Park This January 2014
If there’s one thing Australia’s well known for, it’s its wildlife. It’s the only country you will find wild kangaroos, platypuses, dugong, wombat and, of course, the Tasmanian Devil. To ensure you get a close look at these indigenous animals, your best option is to head to a wildlife park, and Caversham in Perth is one of the friendliest.
Pay the $25 admission charge ($18 for students) and discover the habits and characteristics of their residents. The good thing about this place is that all the shows, talks and photo opportunities are included in the price – even the animal feed is freely available! With no assistance from the government, the park relies solely on visitors, so you can be sure your money is going a long way!
Once inside, you are welcome to meet land and air birds, marsupials and mammals. Each one is unique, from the Wedge Tailed Eagle, Australia’s largest bird of prey, to the Echidna, an egg-laying mammal covered in protective spines. Other creatures to gawp at include the Red Kangaroo, Koala, Spotted Tail Quoll, Dingo, Emu and Southern Hairy Nosed Wombat. Get to know these Australian natives through your eyes and your ears, with staff ready to answer any questions and regular talk shows taking place.
