Voicebox: 4th – 13th July

Leave your inhibitions at the door as you step inside the world of velvet-draped debauchery; Voicebox festival is gracing Hobart City Hall this July and it’s certainly not for the faint hearted!

Sprawling across ten days in July, Voicebox is a cabaret-cum-alternative late-night festival within a festival, showcasing a fantastic line-up of both local and international musicians. Initiated by award-winning New Yorker Kim Smith, Voicebox’s unique program fritters between the erotic, the darkly comic, the joyous and the emotionally devastating as it provides Hobart with a taste of the glamour, atmosphere and outrageousness of New York City’s theatre and club scene.

With the first artists already let slip, ticket-holders can expect to see the likes of bona fide cabaret goddess and drag artist Joey Arias, quirky diva Erin Markey and American songstress and Sci-Fi icon Jane Badler captivate and seduce as they do their thang, with plenty more delights to be announced nearer the time.

Forming part of the 2014 Festival of Voices – Australia’s premier celebration of the human voice – Voicebox is a unique and diverse experience that welcomes individual singers, choirs and music devotees to unite over a mutual passion for music.
