What Is 4G?
So you may have heard the phrase 4G and 4GEE being batted around in the last couple of weeks, so we thought we would clarify a few things for you.
4G is, as you have have guessed, the new 3G. It’s supposed to be 10 times faster than 3G at delivering web content and downloads to your phone or tablet, but the reality is, it is only a little faster. Although the 4G technology is thought to have the capabilities of delivering content 10 times faster than 3G it doesn’t.
As with any technology it all depends on which carrier you use, and just like driving to work, if there is a traffic jam, it will slow down how fast you get results.
Also, if anyone else in the world other than the UK is reading this, we’ve only just reached 4G status, so that’s why we’re talking about it!
The other thing you may have noticed of late if you are on T-Mobile or Orange is that your phone will now be showing ‘EE’, this is because they have joined forces and become EE stores now, so if you go up to 4G you’ll be going on to 4GEE (see what they did there).
Basically, if you want to remain being nerdy, are looking forward to testing out the new Windows 8 phone, or are a smug iPhone 5 user, we’re gathering you’re already using 4G. So good for you.
Personally I’m off to Carphone Warehouse to see if I can get hold of a Nokia 8310. Kick was a bad ass ring tone!
