Directors, screenwriters and movie buffs will descend upon Sydney from 3rd – 14th June for Sydney Film Festival 2015. With film screenings, discussions, gourmet cinema and a collaboration with Vivid Sydney, there’s so much to choose from, we thought you might need a helping hand. Here’s what not to miss at Sydney Film Festival this year.
Mr Holmes
Acted by the legendary Ian McKellen, the world’s most famous detective is now 93, living in a farmhouse and owner to a hive of bees in Mr Holmes. Despite suffering with memory loss, this story depicts his fight to solve one last mystery.

Sergio Herman: Fucking Perfect – Gourmet Cinema
Follow the story of a successful chef as he closes his Michelin-starred restaurant to connect with his family, and enjoy a meal at Sydney’s, The Bridge Room, to discuss the portrayal of Sergio Herman and his indisputable determination and perfectionism.

Part of the Sounds On Screen events, Amy is about the late, great Amy Winehouse. The singer with the voice that left us too soon, this documentary tells the story of her life as she descends into the public eye. Including interviews with her friends, family and colleagues, this powerful and highly talked-about film will leave you in awe of this incredible talent.

Animation After Dark Showcase
Cartoons that are most certainly not intended for children’s eyes, Animation After Dark Showcase screens the most outrageous, adult short animations of the festival. Of the thousands of submissions, the program includes I Love You So Hard, Jackin’ Off In Traffic and Bird And Cactus Crack, for a screening like no other.

Sydney’s Apple Store celebrates the Sydney Film Festival with a selection of critically-acclaimed writers, directors, producers and actors to discuss their latest products and answer all of your questions. Those attending include Simon Stone of The Daughter, Kim Farrant of Strangerland, and Sean Baker of Tangerine.
