What To Expect On Kangaroo Island

We speak to Amy Martin-Smith from Kangaroo Island Adventure Tours to find out what you can expect when you venture over to Kangaroo Island.

What is the most exciting thing about Kangaroo Island?
Meeting all the local wildlife, there are kangaroos, koalas, echidnas, wallabies, lots of unique birdlife and marine animals such as the Australian Sea Lion. Seeing some spectacular scenery, Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch and the stunning beaches with their white sand and clear water. It ticks all the boxes.

What’s the biggest adventure to be had whilst there?
Sandboarding at Little Sahara. Imagine climbing to the top of these amazing sand dunes, seeing some fantastic 360 degree views and then sliding down the dunes with adrenalin pumping through your veins.

Have you got any exciting tales from tours on Kangaroo Island?
On a recent tour our travellers got up close and personal to an Australian Sea Lion pup at Seal Bay. This little fella was looking for some fun, saw us and came right up close to the group.

What essentials would you bring on a tour to Kangaroo Island?
An open mind to really be able to take in everything that KI has to offer, a hat or beanie depending on weather and a water bottle.

What are your top three tips for the tour?
1. Spend some time alone at Remarkable Rocks admiring the beautiful views, walking amongst the huge granite boulders and gazing out at the surrounding blue waters.
2. Talk to a local and find out why they love living on KI.
3. Try some local KI cuisine such as the pure Ligurian honey, fresh local seafood or wine grown from vines on the Island.
