Hi-Beam Part #2

Coming to you every Thursday is the new GoodGod Small Club project Hi-Beams. We saw the first of these events kick of a little while ago and it was such a great success they’ve sketched it in on a weekly basis! All sets were broadcasted via a live stream through Hi-Beams.com.au and are now up for download.

This is your chance to hear music you won’t hear anywhere else! We’ve invited those DJs and producers with a depth to their craft that we rarely get to witness on the dancefloor. Our aim is to create a unique and open-minded environment for the tastemakers around us to prepare and play the sets they find liberating and rewarding. We’re putting them on centre stage and pulling the decks out to the middle of the front bar floor.

With $5 Rio Bravo cerveza beers to get you hi-spirited and the price coming in at the opposite of HI-gh and costing you absolutely nothing, it’s one to get involved in.

Quizzle Schizzle-

It’s all about brains, togetherness and LOLs at GoodGod every Wednesday! Put your IQ on the line as quizmasters Zoe Coombs Marr and Tyson Koh give your noggin a floggin with questions that’ll have you wishing GoodGod had better 3G reception.

There are prizes after every round, which include general knowledge, audio, visual, ‘food or dude’ and physical challenge. Prizes include cocktail jugs, CDs, a veggie tray and more.

That’s right, the stakes are high. The steaks are low so get a team of your very best hand picked genius’ and see what you can win!

Smoke DZA-

Welcome to the world of Hip Hop star Smoke DZA, touring Australia for the first time ever. Off the back of his brilliant new album Rugby Thompson, the ‘Kush God’ will be bringing his electric live show to Goodgod, with support by Captain Franco & Levins (Halfway Crooks), Monchichi (live), Terrible Twinz (Live), Mike Who and Astral Huggz.

Now his planning on gatecrashing one of Sydney’s very own by bringing the his sound to GoodGod Small Club, so don’t be miss and get your tickets now!

Violent Soho-

It’s been awhile between drinks for Brisbane’s (and in particular Mansfield, 4122) Violent Soho. The band first shot into the music world’s eye when they signed to Thurston Moore’s (of Sonic Youth fame) record label Ecstatic Peace! in 2009 and released their sophomore self-titled LP. A move that saw the four friends relocate to the US for the next 18 months of their young lives.

Since returning to Australia the band has been hard at work writing and stockpiling material for their upcoming album due out next year. The first taste of which is their new single “Tinderbox‘, a blistering track.

Space Is The Place is back with the return of a very special guest, TEEBS. Working himself back up from an injury through painting and artwork he emerged as an established singer/ songwriter.

At the start of his musical adventure, Working within the crew “My Hollow Drum” allowed him to develop fresh ideas and perfect his production technique. By now he was fully immersed in music and art, moving in a creative milieu alongside local artistes he greatly admired. The creation of Ardour spans the two major periods in his life.

Two years in the preparation, Ardour clearly illustrates the road Teebs has travelled. What he wants to convey, even more than the music, is a feeling, and he will be playing at the GoodGod Small Club along with Melbourne artist Wooshie and Sydney local Tobio, alongside residents Sofie Loizou and Prize, so don’t be a stranger, check it out!

Slowblow 3rd Birthday ft. Matias Aquayo-

It’s Slowblows‘s 3rd birthday and they’re celebrating by having one their favourite DJ/ Producers come play for us! The wonderful, the fantastic, the amazing Matias Aguaya (Kompakt/Comeme). So come dance to his tropical dance rhythms that’ll bring out feelings of desire you never knew you coud feel! We are super excited for this one – so come celebrate Life, Happiness and their 3rd Birthday in true Slow-Blow style!
