CELEBRATE AUSTRALIA DAY IN PERTH

As one of Australia’s most important holidays, Australia Day promises great fun and wonderful celebrations all over the country and Perth is no exception. Various events will be held around the city, and now it’s time to find out what you can do in those events as the country celebrates.

City of Perth Australia Day Skyworks
The annual Australia Day Skyworks is one of Perth’s favourite events, with thousands of people coming to the Swan River foreshore to watch the fireworks display brightly colouring Perth’s skyline. Popular spots to enjoy the fireworks include Langley Park, the South Perth foreshore, and the Riverside Drive. Bring your own picnics to the venue, and enjoy as the explosion of colours in the sky spoil your eyes.

Australia Day Eve Concert
While preparing for all the festivities on Australia Day, why not starting your celebration a day earlier? This year, Red Hill Auditorium in the Perth Hills will be hosting the Australia Day Eve Concert, held on Sunday, January 25, 2015 and featuring local acts Icehouse, James Reyne, Diesel, and Mental as Anything. Food and drinks will be available at the venue to keep you energised throughout the night.

Make Smoking History Survival Day Concert
One of the events leading up to the Australia Day Skyworks, the Survival Day Concert, which celebrates the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and arts, in Supreme Court Gardens will keep you entertained while waiting for the fireworks with a lineup of Indigenous Australian artists, most notably critically acclaimed musician Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, who will perform at the event for the first time.

Australia Day on the Rooftop
What’s better than a great rooftop party all weekend with free entry? Come along to The Aviary on William Street for the ultimate Australia Day weekend party, held from Friday, January 23 up until Monday, January 26. DJs will get you moving throughout the weekend, and you can enjoy Corona Buckets for only $35 and Matilda Bay Beers for only $7 to keep you refreshed.
