Wolf Alice and Gengahr to Support alt-J in London 2015
Wolf Alice and Gengahr have been announced as the support acts for alt-J at London’s O2 Academy on 24th January 2015.
Both bands have had an eventful year, with Wolf Alice playing the John Peel stage at Glastonbury to great reviews. Gengahr also appeared on the BBC Introducing Stage, and are set to play Latitude in 2015. Wolf Alice’s EP ‘Creature Songs’ is out now on Dirty Hit Records and Gengahar’s new single ‘Powder’ / ‘Bathed in Light’ is available on their new label Transgressive Records’.
North London band Wolf Alice first appeared in early 2013 with their debut single ‘Fluffy’. Now they are gaining ground as they develop their tinny timbre of rock with a punk sheen, accentuated by lead singer Ellie Roswell’s lazy, laid back vocals.
Gengahr’s sound is haunting and percussive, with creeping, conflicting harmonies that could grab the attention of Alt-J fans. Also from North London, Gengahr supported Wolf Alice on tour in May and have been compared to Modest Mouse and The Smiths. These could be one to watch, as they gain increasing exposure on radio and the festival scene.
