WOMADelaide 2015
A festival of art, music and dance, WOMADelaide returns in 2015 with a stellar line-up taking to Adelaide’s Botanic Park from 6th – 9th March.
The self-confessed world’s festival will be joined by acts from all over. Australia’s very own reggae and dance hall producer, Mista Savona will be bringing two special guests in the way of Jamaican root singers Prince Alla and Randy Valentine. Also bringing full-on energy to the stage will be Sydney’s nine-piece brass ensemble, Hi-Tops Brass Band featuring Shazza T. British songstress Ninah Cherry will be singing the blues with Sweden’s RocketNumberNine+, and sister duo First Aid Kit will be adding a folk touch to proceedings. In terms of DJs, DJ Spooky will be coming all the way from the USA to spin the tunes twice over the weekend, as well as Invisible Cities from Canada and Detroit’s Theo Parrish.
As this is an arts festival as much as a music event, ticket-holders won’t be left disappointed for visuals. Artistic producers, Architects Of Air, will be presenting a spellbinding maze of pathways and colourful 10-metre-high domes that they’ve called, Exxopolis, which resembles an Islamic Mosque on the outside but a Gothic Cathedral inside. Meanwhile, Artonik offers up The Colour Of Time, celebrating colour and dance with a nod to the Holi festival. Even quirkier additions to this year’s WOMADelaide are Mr Culbuto’s Kelly Doll and hair artists Osadia.
Music, street art and epic production; all that’s left is the food to fill your bellies. Combining amazing food with captivating culture, Taste The World will be bringing cooking extraordinaire, Rosa Matto, for a four-day foodie feast from around the world.
Join all of these acts and artists and many more at WOMADelaide on 6th – 9th March 2015 in Adelaide Botanic Park, for a festival like no other.
