Woodford Folk Festival 2013/2014
Returning for its 28th year on the scene, Australia’s festival of all festivals has released their most ambitious programme yet!
Woodford Folk Festival is set to bring in the New Year with a bang, falling on the 27th December to January 1st, as it sets itself miles apart from any other festival again with a unique and unmissable combination of top-quality entertainment, foods from all over the world and music spanning across all genres.
With over 500 acts in 28 venues, totalling 1235 shows that span over six incredibly busy days and nights, the festival offers concerts, dances, street theatre, writers’ panels, film festival, comedy sessions, acoustic jams, folk medicine, an entire children’s festival, an environmental programme, art and craft workshops, circus performances and workshops, late night cabarets, parades and so much more. No matter where you turn, there’s something different awaiting you around every corner!
This years’ musical highlights include Australia’s best kept secret The Basics, Woodford first-timers Matt Corby and Tim Finn (NZ), Australian rock royalty The Break and festival favourites Blue King Brown.
Also performing are some of the country’s best indigenous stars including Shellie Morris and the Borroloola Songwomen, gracing the main stage with their powerful traditional tunes, and Thelma Plum, returning after an action-packed year since her 2012 festival performance.
Fronting the international selection of musicians this year are British singer-songwriter Beth Orton, Canadian Indie rockers Half Moon Run and reggae sensation Julian Marley (JAM/ENG), with many more to follow!
Woodford also features farmers, innovators and academic leaders in their fields at the GREENhouse venue, discussing and exploring all things environmental, including: Bob Hawke, Professor Ian Lowe, Dr Stuart Glastonbury, Anna Rose, Simon Sheikh, Robert Pekin, Dr Jessica North and loads more.
