Ball Park Music Announce Second Album Release
Ball Park Music have announced the release of their second album ‘Museum’, out October 5.
Artists, traditionally, take their time delivering a follow-up to a well-received debut. The first album is typically a culmination of a lifetime of song-writing, albeit a short one, and then if all goes according to plan, a hectic touring schedule ensues. Ball Park Music is no exception to this rule – their debut album Happiness and Surrounding Suburbs was released less than 12 months ago, the album delivered two songs in this year’s Hottest 100 – ‘It’s Nice To Be Alive’ and ‘All I Want Is You’ – and a month or so earlier earned the title of triple j’s Unearthed Artist Of The Year at the J Awards – an award previously won by the likes of Boy And Bear and The Middle East.
In support of the high acclaim the album received, the band completed numerous tours culminating in a sold out 30 date tour and a prime spot of this year’s Groovin The Moo national run of dates, an opportunity they grabbed with both hands and confirmed them as one of Australia’s must-see outfits.
Their inclusion on the line-up for this year’s Splendour in The Grass would normally signify the closing of this chapter, but the well-intact Ball Park Music ambition awarded the five-piece not only a must-see performance, but also one of the biggest crowds of any local during the three-day musical extravaganza. The set was a veritable best of selection and featured three brand new songs – including current single ‘Surrender’ – and received a live airing on the day thanks to triple j, which was again featured as the first aired Live at the Wireless recorded at Splendour the following week.
But rather than closing the book at this junction, Ball Park Music chose to immediately leap into the next chapter by delivering a brand new single ‘Surrender’ to media that week. ‘Surrender’ immediately picked up triple j support and became the number one most played track on the station a week later.
The first single ‘Surrender’ taken from ‘Museum’ is currently at media.
