Bambi Interview
Newbies to the music scene, Bambi, took some time out to discuss their sound, influences and future plans.
How are you and where are you speaking to us from? How is it?
We’re super awesome. We’re speaking straight from the Bam-Cave, the cave is homey.
As a new band, how would you describe your music to people who haven’t heard you before?
We’ve heard terms such as haunting and dark, we think it’s pretty sexy.
What were you all up to before you started Bambi and how did the band come about?
We’re all still doing those same boring things, university and jobs . Bambi came about because we became bored of being bored.
Having only been together seven months, would you say you’re still developing your sound, or was it something you found pretty quickly?
To be honest, we’ve never really put much thought into it, I guess it just comes out the way it does.
Your latest single ‘Reap From The Dying Love’ has racked up hits rapidly. Can you tell us more about that track? The influence behind it and how you set out creating it?
The song was written sometime last year, the lyrics could be said to be fairly self explanatory. Musically, it is always the case of us just writing how we usually do and letting it all come together itself. Things come out darker than others sometimes and it works the opposite way too, but strangely nothing of ours ever comes out the way we start it, which I guess you could say is a good thing…
What would you like an audience to get from your music?
Feeling that they are discovering something relatively new.
You recently played at the premiere of Disney’s ‘Lone Ranger’, what was that like and how did it come about?
It was well alright, we partied. They asked for a list of bands and chose us out of that list!
Who are your biggest influences? Do you think they can be heard in your music?
Musical influences differ loads between us individually, as a band common ones include bands like Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins and Slowdive. Possibly, we try not to concentrate on any influences too much when writing music.
What’s your ultimate ambition as a band?
To ride that big wave.
Do you think growing up in the UK has had much of an impact on the music you create?
I suppose it’s quite hard to not be influenced by the location of your growing up so yeah I reckon so.
Where in the world would you most like to perform?
Paradiso in Amsterdam.
Have you got any funny/weird tour stories?
We’re still yet to actually set off on a tour, I hope we’ll acquire a few very soon.
What are your plans for the near future?
Hopefully playing some decent festivals next year and loads of shows, partying and honeys.
Thanks for talking to us!
