Sydney is one of the largest cities and can be quite daunting when first moving there. There are countless suburbs in Sydney that can be an excellent choice for those that have families or are looking for space outside of the city that may be a better choice budget wise.
Choosing the best suburbs will widely depend on criteria that you may be looking for including qualities of school, outdoor activities, recreational areas, day care, hospitals, etc. Below are a few best suburbs that have an excellent reputation and may be a good choice to move to.
Manly/Warringah
This suburb is in the north of Sydney and is home to a large expat community, especially those from the UK or New Zealand. This is an excellent location for children as there are plenty of top private and public schools to choose from. The area is also beautiful with the natural beaches that are inviting year-round. Transportation is also quite convenient for those that are working in the city, as you can choose from the bus, train, or ferry.
Merrylands/Parramatta
This is another suburb that is an excellent choice for families. Budget-wise it is a good option as the properties are usually large and there is a lot of space for those looking to escape from the city. Though not as convenient as Manly/Warringah, you can still easily access Merrylands/Parramatta through the suburban train network or a private bus service.
Blacktown
Blacktown is located in Western Sydney and is close enough to Sydney’s city centre to be quite convenient. Not only can you drive on the major highways, there are also trains and bus services. This community has plenty of shopping facilities and is also family friendly with plenty of schools to choose from.
Surry Hills/Paddington
This suburb is close enough to the city centre yet still has its own entertainment and shopping facilities, making it an attractive location for young single expats who may not be as keen to pay the high prices in the city centre. There are also local buses that run all through the night, making it a perfect place to live.
