Cairns And The Daintree Rainforest

Follow us on Google News

If you’re heading to the North Queensland area any time soon, chances are that Cairns and the Daintree Rainforest will be on your bucket list for places to visit, and why wouldn’t they be? Cairns is the main gateway into Tropical North Queensland and the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. A few hours drive north of Cairns, you’ll enter the wet tropical rain forest and the Daintree Region, one of Australia, and the world’s most exciting, living rain forests.

When your feet touch down on Cairns soil, you’ll be full of excitement due to the vast number of local attractions, you may just forget yourself and scream with joy, or fear, depending on whether you’ve decided to go bungy jumping, white water rafting or diving. Being by the Great Barrier Reef, Cairns is one of the main ports for departing boat trips to the Barrier Reef, Live aboard dive and sailing trips. Being on the ocean, there is such a high quality of seafood available at local restaurants and bars. Cairns restaurants pride themselves on quality organic produce. Being a fairly small city it won’t take you long to discover the the port and sea front but for some real treats explore the side streets and always chat to locals about that months go to place as it’s constantly evolving. Leaving the restaurants, we highly recommend that you swing by one of the many lively bars for a cool beer or cocktail. Be it a taste of Mexico at the Green Ant Cantina or living up the highlife at The Attic you’ll be in for a great, memorable night.

After your first night of tasting your way around this town like city, wake up and take yourself for a stroll around Botanic Gardens and check out the variety of galleries on offer. Now due to such creatures as Sea Crocodiles, you’re not going to find a beach to soak up the rays on so your going to be looking at for the lagoon, a man made pool located at the end of the main highstreet and the start of the Esplanade.

To get up to the Daintree area, you’ll need to reserve enough time for travelling along an extremely beautiful coastal drive. Although the drive will probably take you a couple of hours you should definitely consider stopping off in Port Douglas and visiting a few of the stunning beaches, just remember to keep your eyes open for wildlife.

About Daintree Rainforest

The Daintree Rainforest is the most diverse and beautiful locations on earth, with the the largest collection of rare plants and animals with an area of 1,200km squared. Daintree is home to the largest protect area in the whole of Australia and in addition the rainforest is a world heritage listed area, with it being the home to the highest number of endangered or nearing extinction plants and animals. The rainforest also stands the threat from those looking to develop the area even though, Daintree is the oldest surviving rainforest in the world.

Right out of the rainforest, you step on to the Cape Tribulation, which is such a very special experience to have when you are in the Daintree National Park. It’s a completely empty with only the drift wood and washed up shells to keep you company and while you’re there you can enjoy horse back riding on the sandy beaches. Have guided tours where you will be introduced to the local wildlife such as the Boyd’s Forest Dragon.
