Formed in the early 90’s the band started off supporting acts like Elvis Costello and Oasis. Casts debut album, All Change, reached double platinum and made it into the top ten. It has the label of being the fastest ever selling Polydor album.
Reveiws of the album talk about the similarities to the La’s but also the advancement of the sound. It had big Brit Pop anthems like Alright and ballads like Walkaway and really captured the sound of the time. They were seen as a real people’s band The band had success up to their split in 2001. There began a nine year hiatus.
In 2010 John Power began to do shows where he would play old Cast songs and then later that year it was officially announced that Cast would reform.
The band then went on tour to celebrate the 15th anniversary of All Change. 2012 marked their rst full studio album since 2001. Troubles Times was released in November 2011 as a download and then in 2012 as a physical copy. Critics praised it as “episodically excellent way to spend three- quarters of an hour.” Another album is due for release in March 2016.
Despite multiple line-up changes, Cast continue to tour regularly and bring out fans old and new.
