Chris Malinchak At Oval Space Review
Chris Malinchak is an American DJ best known for his release ‘So Good To Me’. The song went viral and was supported by the likes of Annie Mac, Pete Tong and other world renowned DJs. I’ve always been a massive supporter, but it wasn’t until I heard his set at Ushuaia in Ibiza last year on Radio One that I decided he had to be added to the ever-growing list of who to see.
So when seeing that he was playing at Oval Space in Bethnal Green, I immediately jumped on the bandwagon and rallied up the crew to head down to watch him play.
Oval Space has always been one of my favourite venues; the breadth of talent they source to play means that, in my eyes, they stand out above most other London venues. To have a DJ like Chris Malinchak play, in itself, shows they manage to capture great talent – Chris is a DJ that even with his huge hit, has remained quite elusive.
Although not long, Chris’s set was just what we expected and hoped for. He played all of the classics, including ‘So Good To Me’ and ‘If U Got It’ and dropped in his newly released track, ‘Stranger’, which although hasn’t been in the top ten, still has the power to get everyone on the dance floor.
What’s likeable about Chris Malinchak’s music is just that, although he doesn’t have a chart topper time after time, his house music is some of the best out there. And by keeping his gigs far and few between, it makes it that much more of a show when people do see him.
