Ding Dong Lounge Gig Listings

Recreation is the inspiration of three endlessly buzzing Melbourne kids fed up with a lack of Thursday night fun. Rather than plod along, questioning what might have been, a decision was made to throw a party. Combining the nostalgic hits of the past several decades with appearances from both up-and-coming and established acts, Recreation intends to refocus on what many nights have lost, ridiculous enjoyment. Cast off your troubles with a recreational punch and come and
dance to that untouchable mix of music you’ve never heard and that which you thought you were no longer allowed to listen to.

Cloud Nothings (Cleveland Ohio,) will finally be making their way to our shore for their debut shows in 2013. Led by 22 year old Dylan Baldi, Cloud Nothings will bring their anthemic, visceral rock music at two small club shows in Sydney and Melbourne as well as appearing at Laneway Festival.
In the time since his lo-fi home recordings trickled onto the Internet in 2009, Baldi has assembled a trio of bandmates whose past experience playing rigid and expected live shows spurred the decision to mix things up. Looking for a new sound, they decamped to Chicago to record their third album Attack On Memory with Steve Albini in his Electrical Audio studio.
Propelled by grinding guitars and screamed lyrics, Cloud Nothings embraced a darker approach and higher fidelity sound and will be bringing their live show that is visceral and raw, energetic, angry and unforgettable to the Ding Dong stage Tuesday 5 Febraury. Joining them will be Brisbane’s Violent Soho.

Finally Clubfeet have announced their ‘Heirs & Graces’ Australian album tour. The eight-date jaunt will encompass all major cities throughout February, shortly after the release of their new LP, ‘Heirs & Graces’, in early January.

Throughout 2011, word spread back to Australia with the help of the debut album’s singles ‘Edge of Extremes’ and ‘Last Words’ which became community radio hits. In 2012, the band returned to the studio (in Cape Town, Melbourne and New York) to record their sophomore album, with a few small breaks to tour alongside the likes of Alpine, Miike Snow and Yuksek, plus their debut Australian tour. Meanwhile, Too Pure Singles Club (Beggars Group) released Clubfeet’s limited edition City of Light / This Time 7″ in the UK.
Acclaimed for their immersive live show which saw them land in Paste’s ’10 Great Bands from CMJ’ list on their first US trip, Clubfeet are very excited to return for their second headline tour of Australia, playing at Ding Dong on Saturday 9th February with Collarbones, Chela
