Discover The Wild West Of Australia

Follow us on Google News

From giant karri trees to crashing waves, the south west of Australia presents Mother Nature at her finest.

Spend three days exploring the south west region of Western Australia, from the state capital of Perth to the wine region of Margaret River and the beautiful beach of Busselton, and you’ll see that the patchwork quilt of fields, forest and rolling hills are just as spectacular as the north of the city.

Heading south through the jarrah forest and sheep farming country, the Stirling Ranges offers a great spot for lunch before a stop at The Porongurups for a breathtaking view from the Castle Rock skywalk. Entering Albany, you can’t miss the sunset from Mt Clarence to end the first day on a high.

Begin your second day right on the coast with a stop at the natural wonders of The Gap, Natural Bridge and Blowholes – all of which give the rocky coastline even more character. Heading west, you swap the pounding waves for the calm waters of Greens Pool and Elephant Rocks in William Bay National Park. With turquoise waters to bathe in and rock pools to explore, you could spend hours soaking up the pure beauty of this oasis.

Leaving the water’s edge, head into the Valley of the Giants and Ancient Empire, home to a tree top boardwalk 40 metres above the forest floor. Then, why not take on the climb up the fire lookout tree – the world’s second tallest at 72 metres! When you’re back with your feet on the ground, take the journey to Augusta for your second night in the south west.

On your third day, begin with a visit to Cape Leeuwin to take in the great sight of where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet, before heading into wine territory. Margaret River is famous for its grapes, producing the finest wine in the west, and you can sample what the region has to offer on a popular wine tour. Margaret River is also a must-visit destination for its caves, of which there are more than 300, and coastal attractions such as Prevelly Beach and Surfers Point. Before this three-day adventure of the south west is over, there’s time for one last stop in Busselton, home to the longest jetty in the Southern Hemisphere.

Aussie Wanderer provide a 3 Day South West Tour from Perth, including accommodation, transport, meals, entry fees and an experienced tour guide, from just $475pp.
