Dubbo Festival 2012
Dubbo Festival, NSW, is from Friday 7 – Sunday 30 September and also Saturday 20 October and celebrate arts, culture, film and music in the Dubbo region.
The spectacular highlight, Carnival of the Animals, will take place on Saturday 15 September at Macquarie and Talbragar Streets in Dubbo’s CBD, inviting you to find your inner animal!
The Carnival of the Animals is a thrilling parade and animal themed window display competition engaging the whole community, with acrobats, Chinese dragons, giant floating animals, a mobile zoo and more. The event is open to all members of the community, from schools and community groups to social and sporting clubs; everyone is encouraged to participate in the event.
Prizes will be awarded to the best floats and performers for the most creative presentation, with a special category for schools. Taronga Western Plains Zoo will contribute a number of fantastic prizes, including a behind the scenes Zoo Adventure for 16 people meeting endangered and exotic animals awarded to the winner of the Best Window Display. The winner of Best School Presentation will receive a classroom session at the Zoo’s Education Centre and free entry to the Zoo for 30 students. The lucky Best Float winner will receive a Roar and Snore overnight experience at Taronga Zoo for two adults and two children.
The Cockatoo Institute will also donate a cash prize for Best Overall Presentation, which will go to a local charity of the winning group’s choice (cash value to be announced).

With funding assistance from Destination NSW’s Regional Tourism Partnership Funding Program and Inland NSW Tourism, the Dubbo Festival is a collaboration by the Cockatoo Institute, which is presenting the Inland NSW Film Festival, and DREAM Festival with the support of Taronga Western Plains Zoo. The diverse and contemporary program will be held in some of Dubbo’s most picturesque and popular locations, showcasing Dubbo’s creative zest and world-class arts facilities.
