Embark On A Summer Festival Road Trip In Croatia
If you’ve been on the search for an epic summer festival in Europe, you can’t deny that Croatia is brimming with great ones. In fact, the summer season in Croatia is so packed full with outdoor music events, you could hop from one and be attending another the very same day! If you’d actually like to see the country on the edge of the beautiful blue Adriatic Sea, how about a festival road trip in Croatia, taking in all of its great sights, sounds and experiences?
Beginning with INMusic Festival on 22nd – 24th June in the Croatian capital city of Zagreb, ease yourself into the festival circuit with Of Monsters and Men, Franz Ferdinand & Sparks, Paolo Nutini and Florence and the Machine, at just €47 per ticket for the entire three days. While it may not boast the coastline location of other famous Croatian destinations, it offers culture, arts, architecture, amazing food and the refreshing Jarun Lake for summer swimming and sailing.
Around four hours’ drive to the coast is Novalja on the island of Pag, a hotbed for festival activity with three in just 11 days. With Hideout Festival on 28th June – 3rd July, Hard Island on 3rd – 6th July, and Armada Day & Night on 6th – 9th July, the party doesn’t stop until the music does. Because we all know this much excitement can knacker even the most hardcore of festivalgoers, Novalja has plenty to offer away from the party zone. Try your hand at a variety of water sports such as flyboarding, jet boating and parasailing. There’s even a 41m bunjee jump on Zrce Beach so you can jump above the shore. If you truly want to explore Pag, sailing in Croatia is one of the best ways to hop from island to island, which you can do to get to your next festival.
Ultra Europe takes place in Split on the coast of the Croatian mainland, and is born from a global phenomenon that sees the hottest electronic music talent take over destinations like Japan, Ibiza, Miami and Brazil. This year’s line-up will see The Chemical Brothers, Alesso, David Guetta, Tiesto and more from 10th – 12th July with €169pp three-day tickets still available. A town in a striking setting, Split is blessed with mountain views in the background and turquoise waters on its doorstep, while thriving bars, restaurants and shops keep the centre buzzing. A launchpad to many of Croatia’s neighbouring islands, you can continue sailing onto Brac, Hvar and Korcula following Ultra Europe.
Taking into consideration travel and leisure times, you may find that packing this many festivals into your road trip is just not possible. Luckily, Croatia has so many to choose from, and has so much to offer besides, that it really doesn’t matter what you choose to do, you’ll have a bloody epic time doing it.
