Father’s Office Speakeasy 1920s Themed Bar and Restaurant

balcony 4Father’s Office Speakeasy is an incredible 1920’s themed bar and restaurant where you are immediately transported back to a time where the girls are dressed in flapper attire and the guys dressed as gangstas. The theme is significant to when alcohol was prohibited in America. The place is dripping in vintage goodies and really sets the scene. In addition, the generous balcony looks down onto Melbourne’s historic Swanston and Little Lonsdale streets.

It is not just the bar’s interior and exterior that screams 1920s. The drinks menu also includes a large range of rum and whiskey that reflects the underground 1920s theme and the beer, which is sourced from local micro-brewers, flows from copper beer taps. Father’s Office also prides itself on its cocktails…it’s difficult to restrain yourself from tasting them all! Our favourite has to be the ‘Sexy Cherry Soda Pop’ which delivers a powerful punch of cherry goodness with a homemade vanilla ice cream float. Ranging between $12- $18 per cocktail, they are so worth it!

The food is also something to rave about as Father’s Office serves high quality American cuisine with premium meat cuts. From the bar you can feast yourselves on dishes that range from $6- $13 such as the Black Angus Texan Chilli Nachos, Cheesy Bacon Beer Battered Fries and Kansas City Smoked BBQ wings along with the more basic , but never boring, American favourites; hot dogs, cheeseburgers and corn on the cob.

If you fancy something with a bit more substance, the main menu has a lot more to offer as well as the meals already listed. The Kansas City Baby Back Ribs are to die for, the full rack of slow roasted Victorian Baby Back pork ribs will have you covered in their home made smoky BBQ sauce, they’re just too good to care. The side salads are even something to get excited about, the Wild Roquette Salad includes fresh pear and Parmesan cheese with a homemade honey cider dressing.

The set menu at $39 per person contains a whole range of dishes that will make your mouth water just by reading it, full of fabulous starters, sides, main meals and not forgetting unforgettable desserts such as Honey Glazed Doughnuts- cinnamon doughnut balls smothered in Australian wilderflower honey, dusted in icing sugar and served deliciously warm.

So if you love your American grub, we highly recommend you to get yourself down to the Father’s Office Speakeasy as soon as possible, it’s the best around!
