Flow Festival Is Almost Here
The ninth edition of Flow festival is almost upon us, taking place between August 8th and 12th at the disused power plant Suvilahti, in the Sörnäinen district of Helsinki.
This year’s Flow, showcase an impressive line of international music acts, which include Bjork, Bon Iver, Feist, The Black Keys, Frank Ocean, Ane Brun, The War on Drugs, Nicolas Jaar, Four Tet & Caribou among many of the acts. Flow further showcases a varied program of experimental and jazz music in its concept stage “The Other Sound”. Both international and domestic artists such as California based Sun Araw, The Orchestra of Spheres, US band Sleep ? Over, Goodiepal as well as the Finnish Pekka Airaksinen, Sami Sänpäkkilä, The Splits to name a few. The Other Sound stage take place at the Cirko and the Voimala venues on site. The festival will also include local Finnish artists such as Jukka Poika, Gracias, Siinai, Verneri Pohjola Quartet, Black Twig, Bendagram and Kuusumun Profeetta.
The festival features in the newest in design, visual arts, films, architecture and talks. On the design front, Flow will present the festival area entry installation, “Fountain”, designed by the award-winning Harri Koskinen / Friends of Industry Ltd, the festival’s Visual artist of the year Tuomas Aleksander Laitinen’s work “Passage”, and the unique Wastelands stage, titled Balloon presented in co-operation with the architectural assembly related to the Helsinki World Design Capital 2012 program.
