Imogen Heap Announces Phenomenal Fourth Album ‘Spark’

Follow us on Google News

imogen heapDreamy songstress and all-round master of the concept album, Imogen Heap returns on the 3rd March 2014 with new offering ‘Sparks’. Her fourth solo album, released through RCA Records, is set to dazzle fans and even includes them in the creative process.

Track-wise, Imogen offers nothing less than you’d expect. Songs take on the form of a journey, with a trip to the River Thames inspiring ‘You Know Where To Find Me’ and experiences in her local community garden giving us ‘Neglected Space’. She’s taken inspiration from everything… including the sound of a dishwasher door closing and even the striking of a match! Sadly we don’t think the rest of us could be quite so musically inspired by doing the laundry and lighting a candle but there’s always hope.

You’ll find collaborations too with the most unlikely of people. From fans, to gardeners, to filmmakers, Imogen includes them all, making this album one of her most diverse yet. Perhaps most impressive though is ‘The Listening Chair’, a five minute track charting her 35 years of life so far which she plans on adding to every seven years. It’s the song that just keeps on giving!

If super dedicated Imogen lovers pre-order her limited edition deluxe box set (available to order from now until the 30th of September 2013), they’ll be encouraged to get their art attack on and send in their footprints to be included on the front cover of the album. Quite a ‘feet’ of artistry, ey? Whether you’re a hard-core Heap fan or not, the package is pretty impressive, with submitted footprints also forming the design of a special ticket which allows fans access to one of her sound checks on the world tour, to meet Imogen in person AND sit in on one of her rehearsals and pre-show set ups. It’s truly a ‘golden ticket’ type opportunity, or it would be, except THIS ticket is made from a blend of paper which includes actual items that Imogen used in the recording of the album. This pretty spectacular package also includes a whopping album CD, 14 HD music videos, videos documenting the making of the album, a double 10″ vinyl album, a deck of playing cards which unlocks exclusive web content and a 120 page book, detailing the making of ‘Sparks’. Phew Imogen, you think of everything!

If you fancy giving ‘Sparks’ a go without the commitment of any foot-based offerings, you must make the tricky decision of choosing between the standard edition or the double disc casebound edition with instrumental versions of all the tracks (both available from the 3rd of March 2014). We know which one we’re going for!
