The Best Irish Pubs That Aren’t In Ireland
Discover the Best Irish Pubs that aren’t in Ireland
Anyone who’s stepped inside one knows it: there’s just something about an Irish pub. Due to their popularity, whether it be the food, the drink or the authentic craic, there are Irish pubs worldwide waiting to welcome you with open arms. Wherever you are on this great big planet, you can find the heart of Ireland anywhere, and these places prove it.
Angus O’Tool’s, Phuket
A pub and guesthouse, Angus O’Tool’s will fill you up with food and beer and then provide you with a comfy bed in which to sleep. There are all your favourite meals like steaks, homemade pie, all-day breakfast, and a Sunday roast, as well as Guinness, Kilkenny, and Magners on draught and live sports on the plasma screens. The deal-breaker for this pub? It’s just 300m from Karon Beach, one of Thailand’s cleanest beaches.
Address: 516/20 Patak Road, Karon Beach, Phuket

The Last Jar, Melbourne
You can’t get much more rustic than The Last Jar. Beautifully quaint and absolutely charming, there are no gimmicks or clichés, just excellent food in an atmosphere that completely consumes you. The food really does put other Irish pubs to shame with Guinness Welsh rarebit, potato and ham hock stuffed pig’s tail, and smoked mackerel pate – and that’s just the snacks! Don’t miss the half-price oysters every Thursday, 5-7 pm.

Waxy O’Connor’s, UK
So we’re cheating a little with this one. With four locations in the UK (two in London, one in Manchester and one in Glasgow), Waxy O’Connor’s is more of a labyrinth that serves whiskey, wine and meals in a whimsical environment than a simple pub. Located in the heart of all three cities, you can explore the different levels, find a spot that suits you and settle in for the evening.
Address: 14-16 Rupert Street, London

Delaney’s, Hong Kong
Hong Kong loved Delaney’s so much when it opened in Wanchai in 199, that they built another two, one in Kowloon and the other in Pokfulam. These local favourites provide helpings of steamed mussels, oxtail soup, lamb stew and more, but the pièce de résistance? It’s got to be the endless Guinness Stout on draught. There’s also the longest happy hour you’ve ever had the pleasure to attend, starting at 3 pm and ending at 9 pm at Delaney’s Wanchai – that’s a lot of happiness.
Address: 71-77 Peking Road, Kowloon
Kilkenny, Berlin
Berlin may be famous for its own breweries, but it won’t shy away from celebrating its Irish counterparts. With three rooms incorporating a different aspect of Irish culture, Guinness is king, meals are decadent, and there’s a new band each weekend to play the soundtrack to your Friday or Saturday night. And what would a pub be without sport? You can watch it live here, whether it’s Premier, Champions or Europa.
Address: S-Bahn Station Hackescher Markt, Zwirngraben 17-20, Berlin-Mitte
