MCA ARTBAR curated by Lauren Brincat – Friday 30th August 2013
This Friday, 30th August 2013, Lauren Brincat – a multimedia artist from Sydney – will say ‘thank you for the music’ at MCA ARTBAR, driven by Audi.
ARTBAR has built up a tradition of presenting unexpected, one-night-only art, music and performance events, and this night will be no different. Piano accordions will echo and follow you through the Museum, played by Monika Brooks and Laura Altman; Australian percussionist and longtime collaborator of Brincat, Bree van Reyk will compose Mexico City soundscapes; and musicians Jack Ladder and Swimwear will serenade you on the night.
Apply the skills you’ve learnt in a dancehall lesson on the Sculpture Terrace to the sounds of DJs JMS, Tim Moore and Charlie Villas. Give your body what it wants and boogie the evening away to Disco, Reggae, Funk and Soul.
Hear Swedish artist Johanna Billing’s ‘You Don’t Love Me Yet’ in its latest rendition by multidisciplinary performers from across Sydney; be enlightened by ABC Rage producer Tyson Koh’s lecture on the history of the video clip; observe drummers Batterie and Laurenz Pike; and be swept away by Nomad Percussion’s unique versions of historical compositions.
There’s so much going on, you’d be silly to miss out. And you don’t have to be arty farty to have a good time.
