Migrants welcome in the Northern Territory with 63 new occupations
The Northern Territory state nomination occupation list has just added 63 new occupations prior to the launching of the $5 billion infrastructure projects’ loan scheme that is set to begin in July of 2016.
The Federal Government of Australia is about to launch the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility, or NAIF, and it will be the one to facilitate in the $5 billion loan scheme which is expected to further economic growth in the northern area. The state government of the Northern Territory has announced its skills list which takes the number of jobs that it is going to sponsor for sc 190 permanent and sc 489 temporary visas to more than 170 positions.
Mr Josh Fryberg, the minister of Resources, Energy and Northern Australia, spoke about the NAIF initiatives, saying that these changes are going to be of big help when it comes to energising the Northern Territory’s immigration levels and economic growth.
”With 40 per cent of Australia’s land mass but only around 5 per cent of our population, the potential for economic growth in our north is enormous,” Mr Frydenberg stated, adding that ”The Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility will support this growth and complement private sector investment”
It was a choice between Cairns and Sydney as to where the NAIF headquarters is going to be, and Cairns narrowly beat Sydney to it. Operations are expected to start in July of this year. A number of major projects, according to an ABC report, have already been pitched to gain access to the already over-subscribed loan. It is stated in the eligibility criteria that the NAIF loans are going to be used so major economic projects such as airports, energy, ports, roads, rails, communication, and water infrastructures, can be financed.
The Occupation list of the Northern Territory includes areas such as Darwin, Alice Sprins, Palmerston, Katherine, and Nhulunbuy. It was updated on the 14th of April of this year, indicating that 24 occupations have been removed, and 63 new ones were added.
