Moreton Island
Just a short 20 minutes drive away from the city of Brisbane, followed by an hour’s scenic car ferry crossing, you will arrive at the third largest sand island in the world, Morton Island – the stunning island where sailors lived in the war to protect Brisbane. The fact that it is not talked about as much as Fraser and Stradbroke Islands makes it that bit more intriguing, and will definitely leave you feeling overwhelmed.
Just 37 kilometres long and only 10 kilometres wide, it is the perfect place for a relaxing yet adventurous day out. The famous shipwreck, which was intentionally put there in the 1960s, along with its crystal clear waters and marine life, makes it a beautiful spot to get under the ocean’s surface with your snorkelling gear and go pro!
In the centre of Morton, along the very bumpy middle road, stands the world’s tallest established sand dune, so if you are feeling really out there and up for trying something new then get sand boarding – the easiest yet most exhilarating activity ever! It will leave you addicted and wanting to do it over and over. The experience will stay with you for weeks too as you will be finding sand in all places. Trust us – BBM has been scouring for weeks!
Morton Bay Escapes Day tour $175 all inclusive.
