Music News: Metronomy Announce New Album ‘Love Letters’
Fans of the modern Electro-Pop act Metronomy will want to pencil March 7th into their diaries, as the month will mark the momentous return of the quintessentially English group to 2014, armed with some crisp new material and ready to get some feet tapping!
After two years since any fresh music has hit the airwaves, the man of many talents Joseph Mount will be returning with another musical gem to follow 2011’s album ‘The English Riviera’. After receiving glowing reviews from critics, the album – which is said to be a salute to Joe’s hometown in the English south coast – became a rocket that shot Metronomy to the top of the UK music scene, becoming one of the most critcally-acclaimed albums of the year. Receiving a nomination for the Barclaycard Mercury Music prize, the album also sold a quarter of a million copies worldwide and resulted in Metronomy selling out huge shows globally, even including the stage of the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London; racking up 250,000 ticket sales over the world.
After proving himself to be an unstoppable creative force, Joe Mount has now developed an impressive collection of fans stretching across all corners of the globe; deservingly becoming renowned as a must-see live act.
As of recently, the talented musician has even had first single from the album ‘I’m Aquarius’ knighted with Zane Lowe’s ‘Hottest Record In The World’ title, and following a pioneering development, the tune will also be made available via ‘The Night Sky’ Android and iOS app. This app – which allows users to majestically identify planets and constellations in the night sky above – will feature the track for one week, ending on November 18th, and users will be able to play the catchy tune once they find and identify the Aquarius constellation in the sky.
The fourth studio album ‘Love Letters’ is undoubtedly going to become Metronomy’s masterpiece, aiming to keep in with the warm melodies that create the distinctive sound of the act, whilst also evolving into a new style that will result in the album becoming a true classic. Recorded at Toe Rag studios in London – an analogue studio playing home to rock ‘n’ roll acts such as The White Stripes – Love Letters manages to incorporate crisp new ideas into a classic, old-school technique, and will unarguably become a hit with both old and new listeners to Metronomy’s music.
