My Year In China

Take a gap year with My Year In China and you can enjoy the advantages of a working holiday, where you can teach English, study Mandarin, network and experience a cultural exchange in the buzzing country of China.

The two programs to choose from are free by offering internship and educator placements and paid work so that you can live and travel in China.

Home Educator Program (English Mate)

Work in home-based educational childcare and immerse yourself in the local culture by living with a Chinese family as an English tutor. Running for three, six, nine or 12 months, you will be put with a family that is considered best suited, and relish the opportunity to teach, travel and learn during your time with them. With first-hand face-to-face experience, this is beyond textbook and out of the ordinary Monday – Friday, 9-5.

Internship Program (English Whiz)

Within a primary school, kindergarten or language institute, you will be in the heart of the education system, teaching school children and gaining on the job training for better future prospects in teaching. As an English Whiz, you will get to know the kids you will be teaching and learning from in a school environment, develop communication skills and interact with people you’d never normally meet back home, and being paid for it. Outside of the classroom, you can take a break from daily life with experiences in Chinese food, culture and traditions.
