NiCe7 embark on yet another Australian and New Zealand tour this Friday. Playing club nights and festival shows, we caught up with the Italian duo to talk about their return, 2016 so far and what the rest of the year has in store.

Hi guys, how’s 2016 treating you so far?
Hey! We had a full month’s studio work in January, ready to start touring again next week. We just finished a new remix, a new EP and working on some other original tunes… We’re really looking forward to release all of these tunes in 2016.

Where in the world are you at the moment?
We’re in Italy; we both live in Roma now.

You leave for Australia and New Zealand next week, what do you have in store for ticket-holders?
We’re very excited to play out all the new stuff. We had a collaboration with Italians, Dirty Channels – very good friends of ours – and with singer, Forrest. We also did some new re-edits… So, we’re 100% ready for Australian dancefloors!

You’re playing a mix of club and festival shows; do you have a preference? What are the different experiences of each?
We like to play clubs and festivals – it’s a different feeling. Last time we played in Revolver in Melbourne and it was magical, it was a proper journey of seven hours of music. Playing festivals is more about energy – different but also cool!

What can someone in the crowd do to get your attention and what’s the craziest thing someone’s ever done?
We see people with banners in the crowd during festivals. It’s always cool and funny to try to read what they write on them!

What do you want the crowd to feel when watching and listening to you?
We like making people happy, and we feel happy when people have fun watching and listening to us.

When we spoke to you last year, you expressed your desire to head up to northeast Australia; will you find time to do that this year?
It’s very hard, we’ll have seven gigs in 10 days this time – and we’re not superheroes! [Laughs]

If you had a free day while in Australia so you could do anything, what would you do?
We did many things on the last tours; we spent an amazing time at the zoo in Melbourne and around Sydney and Melbourne in general. A good friend of ours suggested to take a day boat trip to Rottnest Island after the gig in Perth…we’re trying to figure it out if possible this time!

What are your plans after the final show in Melbourne? Will you be sticking around in Oz or heading elsewhere?
We’ll be back to Italy after the last gig on Sunday.

What does the rest of 2016 have in store for you?
We’ll be touring Italy and Europe in the next months, also doing some showcases with our label D-FLOOR. We’ll be back to Sonar in June this year too. We’re very excited for a great signing on one of our favorite labels, but unfortunately we can’t say too much at the moment. You’ll be updated soon about it, please check our Facebook page and stay tuned!

Performing around the world must be a great advantage of being in the industry; what have been some of the most amazing or surprising destinations you’ve been able to play in?
We played almost everywhere; we think every place in the world has something special. We really enjoyed our tour in South America last summer… It was amazing! Australia is 100% one of our favourite countries to play too, we have very good memories and every time it’s a big pleasure to visit!

You’ve been working together for a decade now; what would you say are your biggest accomplishments as a duo?
Our biggest accomplishment is that we can live following our passion for the music. Sometimes we work 12 hours everyday, but we feel happy because we really love what we’re doing.

You’ve remixed Bassically’s ‘Know This Land’, Jon Cutler’s ‘It’s Yours’ and Tube & Berger’s ‘Surfin’. If you could put the NiCe7 touch on any song in the world, which would you choose?
In 2015, we had the honor to remix ‘Too Long’ by Romanthony (released on Daft Punk’s album ‘Discovery’) and it was a very hard job. There are too many amazing songs in the world.
