Salary Requirements to Nominate a Worker: Employers who want to put forward foreign workers for visas like the Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482), the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa (subclass 494), or the Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) must meet certain salary requirements. They are in place to protect the Australian labour market and make sure that workers get fair pay. To safeguard the Australian labour market and prevent the underpayment of foreign workers, several measures have been put in place.

Important Salary Levels and Averages

There are a number of important wage ranges to consider:

Income Threshold for Temporary Skilled Migration (TSMIT)

Attaining this level of compensation is mandatory. On a yearly basis, the TSMIT is assessed and modified.

The TSMIT was raised to AUD 73,150 on July 1, 2024.
Effective July 1, 2025, the TSMIT is anticipated to reach AUD 76,515.
In addition to fulfilling the TSMIT standards, non-monetary advantages like housing or car allowances must also be granted.

The AMSR is the annual market salary rate

This rate ensures that foreign workers are paid the same as Australians for the same job in the same place.
If the advertised yearly wage is less than 250,000 Australian dollars, the employer is required to determine the appropriate AMSR.
The foreign worker’s wage must either meet or exceed the AMSR.

Income Threshold for Core Skills (CSIT)

Applications for the Core Skills stream of the Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482) and nominations for the Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) (subclass 186) submitted on or after December 7, 2024, are subject to this threshold.

For applications filed between December 7, 2024, and June 30, 2025, the CSIT is set at AUD 73,150.

Income Threshold for Specialist Skills (SSIT)

This criterion is applicable to applicants for the Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482) in the Specialist Skills stream.
Applications received between December 7, 2024, and June 30, 2025, will be eligible for the SSIT, which has been set at AUD 135,000.

Fulfilling the Conditions

Employers need to make sure of these things in order to meet the compensation requirements:

A worker’s guaranteed yearly wages (not including non-monetary benefits) and AMSR are equal to or more than the applicable income threshold (TSMIT, CSIT, or SSIT).
The AMSR is the minimum wage that an Australian worker would get for an equivalent position, and it is paid to the foreign worker at least.
Nominations will not be considered for positions if the AMSR is lower than the new TSMIT.
