The Scary Canary is a unique bar and restaurant located at 469 Kent Street, just a stone’s throw from Sydney’s Town Hall. Marked by its unconventional name, the scary canary is a venue you’ll never forget.
During the day our Bistro style restaurant pumps out all the classics and boasts some of Sydney’s cheapest meal deals from our $10 or less menu. Don’t forget to try the ribs!!
As the night continues the bar evolves from a local drinking hole to a heaving backpacker party bar that offers something quirky each night. We are famous for our Dress-up Wednesday night theme parties with $3.5 drinks all night. On any given Wednesday you could find yourself wearing your pyjamas, bin bags, doctors’ or nurses’ outfits….or if you’re in the wet t comp…hardly anything.
Keep an eye out for our Full Moon bucket cocktails on Saturday night and our live bands during the week.

In the last few years, Scary Canary has been the most popular destination for students and backpackers looking for a fun night out, and it usually doesn’t matter which day of the week it is. Located just behind Town Hall it is an easily accessible location for any backpacker staying in the city.
What drives so many to pick Scary Canary for their night out is the different themed nights. ‘Wet Wednesday’ is usually the most popular with Huge headline acts, but recently the addition of Fireball Fridays is a fan of the uni students and Backpackers.
We are just like you, we want to party.
We are a fully licensed venue, you do need a current form of acceptable ID to enter.
Dress Code applies after 9 pm. Remember we are a nightclub, not the beach, the gym or your mate’s rave. Dress nice and let’s party!!
