Sia ‘Elastic Heart’ Behind The Scenes

After the release of Sia’s latest single ‘Elastic Heart’ to global critical acclaim, DanceOn YouTube channel have given an insight into the making of the video featuring Shia LaBeouf and previous collaborator Maddie Ziegler, which is the second instalment of a proposed trilogy.

Due to the success of 2014’s ‘Chandelier’, Sia chose to utilise the same creative team in choreographer Ryan Heffington, dancer Maddie Ziegler and co-director Daniel Askill to create an emotionally intense physical theatre style dance, solely focusing on the relationship between both characters in the video as the performance magnifies the passion and earnestness of Sia’s vocals. In the behind the scenes clip, Sia explains why she chose the same team and what the new single and video expresses, and we also get to hear from Maddie Ziegler, Shia LaBeouf and Daniel Askill.

Similarly to the Behind The Scenes Video of ‘Elastic Heart’, Sia obscured her face during her recent performance on Saturday Night Live and was supported only by a mime which successfully amplified the raw emotion in her storytelling and offers a unique take on the modern mainstream pop star aesthetic as it is simply her voice which is elevated to the foreground rather than the ‘pop star package’ often sold to us – Sia has a track-record of hiding behind the scenes, whether it’s penning tunes for Christina Aguilera or lending her voice to Zero 7 and David Guetta tracks. The third chapter of Sia’s innovative trilogy is due for release later in the year and we cannot wait.
