Playing Volleyball with Maroubra Beach Volleyball
There’s nothing like a summer in Sydney – beach, BBQs and beers – the perfect combination for a lazy, unproductive weekend that ends in a flabby gut and lobster-face.
But to break up the basking, beachvolleyball.com.au offers an incredible experience that will have you smashing balls like Tom Cruise… in Topgun.
With sites at both Manly Beach and Maroubra, you’re in close distance whether you’re based in the north or the south. This Saturday, Maroubra was the destination, with the set up at the south side of the beach.
Set in front of the surf lifesaving club, right by the sea, the only thing nicer than the scenery was Bee, the beach volleyball instructor.
Suitable for people of all abilities – the instructor will take you through all the basics, from setting and digging the ball, serving and spiking over the net. Once you’ve nailed the basics, you can move on to some exceptionally fun drills that at least one person will dive flat on their face, much to the enjoyment of the rest of the group.
Ending the first lesson in a full-blown volleyball match, you put your new skills to the test with three matches.
Throughout the whole lesson, the most notable point is how sociable and fun the experience is. Meet some new people, get fit and learn a new skill. You’ll certainly want to come back – and with beachvolleyball.com.au’s 6-week course, you can.
Beach Volleyball offers a course of six lessons for $180 and is thoroughly recommended – available at: www.beachvolleyball.com.au
