Adelaide Central Market Discovery Tour
South Australia is one of the less traditionally travelled areas of the country; it doesn’t have the city living of Sydney or Melbourne, the tropics of north Queensland or the buzz of the Gold Coast, but it is blessed with long summers, award-winning wine and a wide stretch of coastline and parkland. As a result, it offers one of the most pleasant outdoor experiences and beckons you to head outside.
Hit The Beach
The urban shores of SA are all about the beaches. Drive onto Aldinga Beach and set up a badminton or cricket set, or explore the seaside village of Glenelg and swim with dolphins. Holdfast Marina is the departure for all dolphin tours, particularly idyllic at twilight, and is the base for learning to surf, snorkel and scuba dive. For a fast-paced activity, jump on a jet boat and skim the ocean.
Head For The Hills
There’s nothing more beautiful than the Adelaide Hills when spring hits. Flowers begin to bloom after winter and regional fairs celebrate with copious amounts of food. The vineyards are particularly picturesque and a relaxing escape from the heat of summer. Keen cyclists will enjoy the array of routes on offer with spectacular views, steep hills and dirt tracks in the Mount Lofty area, which are also suited to 4WD.
Take To The Skies
South Australia is not just stunning from the ground – a bird’s eye view is also pretty awesome! Take to the skies and fall 10,000ft over the Murray River, wine districts and hills, complete with views of the south coast and Adelaide city. If you don’t have the guts to jump out of a plane, you can enjoy the scenery a little more peacefully in a hot air balloon. Glide over the Barossa Valley and look out upon some of Australia’s most idyllic countryside.
Meander The Murray River
Flowing into the Southern Ocean from SA, the Murray River embarks on a journey from the Snowy Mountains and through Victoria, providing numerous activities along the way. Live on the river by booking a houseboat, hire a canoe in Renmark or Riverland, and explore the wetlands of Coorong National Park by 4WD.
