Student Visa For Australia
If you’ve decided to take advantage of Australia’s multiple Visa options and are looking to study, work, and travel; a student visa or educational visa is a great option for you.
An Australian Student Visa has some fantastic benefits, not only are you able to take on higher education and study for more than three months. You can also work part-time during the school-term, and full time during your breaks and holidays.
Whilst there’s a variety of assessment levels to apply for a student visa, these will depend on your individual circumstances. Most importantly, you’ll need a letter of enrolment or an offer letter from a CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students) college or uni.
It’s no wonder people want to study in Australia, it is a country that is booming with opportunity, with 71.3% of Australian graduates last year finding employment within four months of their graduation. That’s higher than the UK where 40% are still unemployed after six months of graduation.
On top of this, Australia is recognised as having some of the best Universities in the world. University Of Melbourne, University of Sydney, University of Queensland, University of New South Wales, and the Australian National University are all within the top 100 Universities in the world! Why not study at one of the best institutions on the globe? And on top of that, where the sun is shining, the wildlife more attractive, and the opportunities for work and play are far more exciting! You can search a full list of courses, all of which you can find your visa for, at https://cricos.deewr.gov.au/Course/CourseSearch.aspx
Whether you’re planning on coming back to the UK or staying in Oz, there are some courses which both countries view as the most valuable. This gives you the advantage of being able to find successful employment either side of the globe.
The main course is Healthcare and medicine. Not only is this a successful course, in Australia there is ample working opportunity in the sector. After four months of graduation, 97% of graduates with Bachelors in Medicine and Pharmacy were in employment. Dentists even earned a median wage of $80,000!
Another opportunity is engineering. Australia’s mining sector is booming, and Western Australia was perceived to be the 6th best region in the world for mining. On top of mining, there’s a host of opportunities in engineering with mechanical, electrical, petroleum, and metallurgical. Not forgetting Australia’s love-affair with F1, automotive engineering still has a big place in the sector.
Education, Australia as always is crying out for teachers in the education sector. More than ever there is a massive necessity for Maths and Science teachers in the country. The Australian Government in fact deemed the demand for these subjects so high that Student contribution rates are set to $4,355 and on top of this students studying Education, particularly Maths or Science, may even be eligible for HESC-HELP Benefits.
Shorter, more practical, vocational options are offered with TAFE (Technical and Further Education) Courses. A search of the available courses can be found https://www.tafensw.edu.au/howex/simpleSearch.do these often provide skills along the way and will take a lot less time to complete than your average degree.
If you’re just looking for a little bit of study whilst you’re in Australia, perhaps on a working Visa or just travelling, there’s still some learning you can do.
Australia offers various part-time courses you can study, most of which are reasonably priced, and enrolment is simple and easy. Some of the weirdest and more useful courses can be found part-time, and a few of our favourites include:

Car Maintenance – Sydney Community College
Recycled plastic tote bag or clutch – Tamworth Community College
The Perfect Espresso – TAFE Brisbane
