It’s big, it’s bangin’, and it’s a swift salute to the Subsonic vow which will have you nodding your head with a resounding YES. Holding true to our promise to deliver the best underground music the world has to offer, our local line-up is a firm pillar of that pledge. It is with much gusto that we announce our cherished local champions for 2016.

‘Always fierce, never shady’. Those in the know already know who we’re about to bang on about. For the spectacular showdown which is Subsonic Sunday, the River stage baton will be held by The House of Mince at The Mince Inn. Playing home to a solid spectrum of house & techno, this collective also delivers on fabulously entertaining eye-candy, with a hefty slew of performances throughout the day showcasing life, colour and diversity.

Tick-tock and wind back the Subsonic clock to Saturday, and we have Haunted Science, Breakneck, Flying Fortress and United Colours of D’n’B co-presenting the River Stage. These crews have been banding together to deliver a ridiculously decent array of acts to Sydney over the past year, so it is with much respect that Subsonic invites them to come and do their thing. They’ll be curating a diverse yet thematic journey of sounds for you to get down to – from dub, to dancehall, reggae, 140/bass music, jungle, and drum n bass.

Always on board, always brilliant – our good friends at S*A*S*H are back again, with their residents bringin’ and slingin’ 4/4 beats in the local den that always delivers on vibe – the Franchi Brothers’ Pizza Lab. And in a showcase of the SPICE-y kind, head honcho Murat Kilic will throw tasty deep house down like a don with fellow venerable scene veterans Phil Smart & Robbie Lowe.

Now what would a good ol’ Aussie bush doof be without the doof-doof-doof? If your thing is getting wild in the wilderness, you’ll be happy to hear we have all basses covered. Noisey Chicken, Tribeadelic and Bassic Records present our old amigo El Stompo, where they’ll belt out their homegrown brand of bush techno & psy. And rounding off our local announce for yet another year are our much-loved southern contingent, where the likes of Thankyou City, Oblique Industries, and Katie Drover bring us some Melbournian amour.
