Summer Sessions At Loft Studios
This summer, Loft Studios opens its doors to Casablanca, an incredible series of Sunday afternoon sessions of disco infused electronic explorations. Breathing a new and discerning type of sound and musical integrity into London´s electronic music, Casablanca steps inline with the world´s clubbing capitals, and stirs sleepy Sunday afternoons alive, with a string of seminal artists and labels including the likes of Seth Troxler, Zip, Minus, Rub N´ Tug, Intergalactic FM, Mobilee & Gerd Janson.
West London’s Loft Studios sets the scene for these vintage summer Sunday sounds and deviations, with its immaculate white washed studios, exposed brickwork, high-vaulted ceilings, oak beams and vast windows allowing the sunlight to pour in. Each studio opens out onto Daylight, the open-air courtyard that will be complete with pop-up cocktail bar and classic silent black-and-white films projected onto the walls.
Breaking us into the launch on July 1st sees the shining star in the glittering galaxy of Berlin´s labels mobilee, with co-founder Anja Schneider keeping the studio 5 vibes beating with her warm, supple sounds. Supporting for her will be mobilee´s master of swung beats and textured rhythm And.id alongside 2020 visionary sound-smith Simon Baker.
Running Back head honcho and resident at the world-renowned house music shrine Robert Johnson, Gerd Janson heads up studio 4 unearthing an array of sublime and melodic gems. Over the past few years, Gerd has set himself out to be one of the innovators of leftfield electronic music. Classic Records stalwart Rob Mello, arguably one of the true pioneers of today’s disco sound joins him with Casablanca’s co-founders and residents Derren Smart and Carsten Klemann completing the line-up and battling it out for disco supremacy every fortnight.
July 15th strips it back to Studio 4 and welcomes Visionquest’s inimitable utopian princes, Montreal duo Footprintz, who’ll be bringing their dream-like aural decadence to Loft Studios. Picked by the supremely refined ears of Mr Seth Troxler for his burgeoning imprint, anyone who’s laid their ears upon their body music delights haven’t failed to be seduced. Jonny Rock once a staple and friendly face behind the counter at Phonica, now an artist in his own right with output on the likes of Music For Freaks, Playhouse and Cabin Fever picks up the baton joining compadres Derren Smart and Carsten Klemann in support.
July 19th presents the essence of one of Europe’s greatest clubs Berghain/Panoramabar, with an Ostgut showcase from residents Prosumer and Tama Sumo who leave Berlin behind and step into the Casablanca summer. True experts in Sunday daytime clubbing, both artists have put out some of the most essential slices of techno over the past few years. Elif plays live to complete the line-up in studio 5, whilst in studio 4 one of the shining stars of one of the most talked about A Night With’s… X-Press 2, venture west to furnish our ears and dancing feet with a very special Balearic set.
The perfectly formed summer series runs alternate Sundays from the 1st July right through to the 14th October. Line-ups will be announced one month at a time, however all artists to come are listed below. Summer is just around the corner, and Casablanca is doing it in style. This is not a Sunday morning after-party, this is a Sunday afternoon worth going out for in its own right.
