Superpoze Debut Album ‘Opening’
French producer Superpoze is back following his recent collaborations with compatriot STWO. His first full-length album, ‘Opening’, will be released in the UK on his label Combien Mille on 8th June, and he has already premiered two tracks from this forthcoming release – ‘Unlive’ and ‘Overseas’.
‘Unlive’ is a gently rolling cut which broods with atmospheric textures and unsettling harmonies. Superpoze’s production is crisp and professional beyond his years, and ‘Unlive’ shows a remarkable ability to balance detailed soundscapes with minimal musical elements. The producer has acknowledged this as a deliberate trait of the album throughout – despite its gestation of almost a year, Superpoze chose to omit any tracks that disrupted the balance of the whole, leading to a ‘concise, homogenous album’.
Described as ‘something of a revolution in the Superpoze sound’, ‘Overseas’ gives an even clearer idea of the direction the producer’s music has gone. Known primarily for composing beats, this new sound is described by Superpoze as ‘very moving, personal electro, focusing on melody as never before’ – ‘Overseas’ is dominated by a short piano melody that is transfigured throughout by more trademark electronics.
Superpoze’s vision for this record is clear through these two cuts, and surely the rest of the album will not disappoint. Fans outside of the UK can buy the album here: smarturl.it/OpeningiTunes.
