Temporary Work Visas for Australia
There are several opportunities for those looking to obtain temporary work visas in Australia. The most common two types are Temporary Work (Short Stay Activity) and Temporary Work (Long Stay Activity).
When you’re getting started in Australia it is always best to be aware of every possible avenue that is available to you and this includes deciding on what visa you will be applying for and which is best suited to your specific circumstances. The Temporary Work (Short Stay Activity) allows you to remain in Australia up to three months. This visa is most suitable if you are looking to do work or participate in an activity that is short-term, highly specialised, or not on going. You can also apply for this visa if you are invited by an Australian organization to participate in a non-on going cultural or social activity. The amount of times you can enter Australia on this visa will depend on the particular situation and can vary.
The Temporary Work (Long Stay Activity) has four main streams. The exchange stream is a position that is under an arrangement as a cultural experience and helps international relations. The sports stream is for people to come to Australia to improve the Australian sports quality. The religious stream is for a full-time religious worker, and the domestic worker stream is for people who will be working full-time in the household of a small amount of senior foreign executives.
The Long Stay Activity visa can be up to two years, but it is a longer process to apply. There are three stages:
Sponsorship: An Australian organization or government agency must sponsor you and apply to be a long-stay activity sponsor.
Nomination: After the sponsor is accepted, they must nominate you for a particular activity.
Visa: After a sponsor chooses you, you can officially apply for the Temporary Work (Long Stay Activity) visa.
You will be able to enter and leave Australia as much as you please during the period of your visa, and you can usually extend the visa up to four years.
