The Best Events Of Vivid Sydney 2015

The dates have been confirmed for another year of light, music and unique ideas, but what events of Vivid Sydney 2015 should you mark on your calendar? Here are some of the ones we’ll be going to this year.

Ordered Chaos

You need to see this artwork by day and by night to get the full effect, but don’t worry, it’s completely free no matter how many times you visit it. Located in The Rocks, Ordered Chaos looks at the relationship between ordered and spontaneous design through lighting, clean and calming by day and colourful and animated by night.
22nd May – 8th June, 6pm-Midnight

10 Years Of Future Classic

Celebrating 10 years of the Australian label, Future Classic, the Sydney Opera House will welcome partygoers to the outdoor northern peninsular to celebrate electronic music. Over two nights this winter, ticket-holders are invited to celebrate with Flight Facilities, Seekae, George Maple, Hayden James, Touch Sensitive, Wave Racer, Charles Murdoch, and internationally-acclaimed, Flume. Tickets for the two nights are $129pp.
29th – 30th May, 4pm-Midnight

Streets Ahead

Meet the most revolutionary artists, brands and designers in street art during the Streets Ahead Pop-Up. Hosted by aMBUSH Gallery and T-world, pay just $1 entry to browse over 40 stores of ground-breaking apparel, ideas and products inspired street art. You get to speak to the brands directly and shop their wares during this unique event held in aMBUSH Project Space in Chippendale.
29th-31st May, 10am-8pm

Vivid Light Walk

A staple of Vivid Sydney, the Light Walk coats the city harbour in light and colour. With all manner of shapes, designs, images and lights, the magical walk begins at the forecourt of Sydney Opera House, through Circular Quay, to The Rocks, and finishes in Dawes Point, and is free to anyone that wants to enjoy it.
22nd May – 8th June, 6pm-Midnight

Soul Of Sydney

Soul lovers of Sydney can welcome The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra to Vivid for one special night of funk. With 19 members, the Melbourne collective was created by Zvi Belling, Ethan Hill and Tristan Ludowyk, and are influenced by African nations to produce a combination of afro beats, hip hop and tribal rhythms. Tickets are just $10, and the location will only be announced to ticket-holders.
24th May, 1pm-10pm.

The Future of Music: How Interactive Technologies Are Changing Music Experience

With the format of music dramatically different from 10 years ago, this debate will look at the ever-evolving digital age and how it has affected what music is and where it is going. Practitioners and thinkers including Dr Oliver Brown from Musify + Gamify and Stephen Ferris of Vivid Sydney will add to the debate of The Future Of Music, which will also involve live music performances and an interactive exhibition. Taking place at The University of Sydney, you must register to take part.
26th May, 6.30pm-8.30pm
