The Definative Guide To Barcelona
Barcelona has long been a tourist hotpot for many different reasons. Chief amongst them are the art, long hot days of bright sun, the nearby beach, the culture, the architecture, the food and of course the music. To help you navigate through the myriad offerings and exhibits, parties and park, we have put together this quick guide.
Where to party
Razzamatazz, Apollo and Be Cool are all worth a try for club nights, Harlem Jazz Club does what it says on the tin in fine and cosy style but if you really want a proper party, the world famous Pacha Barcelona and Checkpoint Charlie are worth a trip. The former offers nights like Insane and FACT with top DJs like Alan Fitzpatrick, whilst the latter is a collision of club culture and avant-guard art where you can experience sculpture, 3D mapping and painting, audiovisual projections and musical showcases from stars like tINI, Slow Life, Melchior Productions Ltd and many more acclaimed techno and house talents.
Where to eat
Tapas is the one, but there is so much choice, so where should you go? Condal, Pulperia and Los tres Hermanos are amongst the best. For a tip top burger head to PimPam, or Sea food fans should try La mar Salada. If you want a taste of the local Catalan cuisine then 7 Portes is for you. Cheaper options include the beer hall of Ceveceria Catalana whilst 100 Montaditos offers tapas and litre beers for about 2 euros.
Where to drink
Again there is a wealth of options from high end wine bars to more boozy bars. Espit Chupitos is a really fun shot bar with a great selection that you will lose hours in. Le Cyrano is an interactive bar where you pour your own drinks and Nose serves ridiculously strong cocktails that see you well into the early hours. .
What to do
Visit the beautiful Ciutadella Park, try Plaza Espanya (every Sunday there is a free ‘magic fountain’ show that is worth seeing), visit the bustling market just off La Rambla and check the maze next to Mundet Metro. Of course, no visit would be complete without heading to see the amazing Gaudi cathedral, Sagrada Família, which began construction over a century ago and is still a work in progress.
