The Greatest National Parks In North America
Despite having one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, there are unspoilt areas away from the hustle and bustle of the large cities in North America. Some of the most breath taking landscapes in the world, the following national parks in North America are renowned for wildlife, adventure and getting back to basics.
Yellowstone National Park
Volcanoes, hot springs, cliffs, rivers and waterfalls – there’s an array of discovery in Yellowstone National Park, one of the most famous in the world. Located largely in Wyoming, you can go in search of elks, bears, bison and grey wolves in the 8,983 square kilometres of area.
Banff National Park
With the Bow River, Lake Louise and surrounding Rocky Mountains, Banff National Park is a stunning image of blue water, white mountain peaks and blue sky. A symbol of Canadian mountain scenery, it is the country’s oldest for good reason.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
The opportunity to see a live volcano with your very own eyes pulls many travellers to Hawaii. Watch as Kilauea actively changes the formation of your surroundings with burning lava, and explore the park with hiking paths, desert, rainforest, petroglyphs and a walk-in lava tube.
Elk Island National Park
An island of conservation, Elk Island National Park provides shelter for elk, bison and moose as well as over 250 species of birds. You can camp in the park, embark on long walks or go canoeing and kayaking in Tawayik Lake. The sunsets are also pretty mind-blowing.
Katmai National Park
Home to the beautiful brown bear, you’ve probably seen them salmon fishing in Alaska’s Katmai National Park on the TV, but it’s nothing compared to a live viewing. Large rivers with slight, gushing waterfalls, the surrounding snow-capped mountains provide the perfect backdrop for North American adventure.
