The Messenger Revamps Theatre & Fun in Sydney- Saturday 1st December 2012
Following success in New York, Hollywood and London, the concept of interactive theatre makes its debut in Sydney with the launch of Sydney Interactive Theatre’s inaugural production, The Messenger, beginning this December and heading right through until April 2013!
Part game, part theatre, part tour and part bar crawl, The Messenger sees professional actors deliver a thrilling narrative through Sydney’s historic The Rocks area, providing a unique experience previously unheard of in Sydney.
Taking elements from Sydney’s 1920’s gangster era and New York Italian Mafia scene, The Messenger follows the story of lovers Donnie and Rose who are on the run from the mob. The audience, aided by clues found in city locations including bars, wharves, back alleys and iconic landmarks, embark on a treacherous mission, interacting with shady characters along the way.
The interactive theatre experience also includes a couple of bar stops where participants can mingle with their fellow sleuths and work out their next steps, with food and drinks included in the ticket price.
How I met your mother star Neil Patrick Harris is a huge ambassador for interactive theatre. Harris has appeared on several American chat shows including Letterman speaking fondly about his own personal experience with Interactive Theatre.
Sydney Interactive Theatre will be launching on Saturday 1st December and running up until April 2013. Shows run from 2 – 5 pm each Saturday in the Rocks & Circular Quay area with small groups running every half hour.
