Top five moments from Dockyard Festival
This October Dockyard Festival returns to Amsterdam to coincide with the always eventful, Amsterdam Dance Event. This year see’s the brazen and industrial world of Dockyard Festival teaming up with Mystic Garden Festival for a truly, one of a kind, 12 hour 2-in-1 festival experience. October 20th is set to be a historic night for dance music with several internationally acclaimed artists taking to the stage (Sven Väth, Paco Osuna, Blawan, Luigi Madonna, Matador and more confirmed).
The Dockyard Festival has a deep-rooted connection with the culture and city of Amsterdam and has been affiliated with the Amsterdam Dance Event for several years now; we pick out four of the very best moments from the festival and warehouse parties in recent times.
The ADE Experience
Every year we get this excitement, the experience of Dockyard Festival is enhanced due to the whole of the music world being in Amsterdam for the week. The yellow ADE flags on show around the city on flagpoles and banners in every corner you look; the excitement of this is truly unparalleled.
Paco Osuna at Dockyard Festival 2016
Looking back, one particular set that sticks solid in our minds is that of Paco Osuna, appearing at the 2016 edition. A dark and thunderous vibe that immersed the whole crowd and provided a truly uniting moment among those of us in the crowd that day. We are expecting another moment or two like this during this years’ edition!
Luca Agnelli at Dockyard Warehouse 2017
The Italian DJ known for his industrious might and slender grooves gave a showstopping performance at Dockyard Warehouse edition. Often people who are not into techno don’t fully understand how, with the right vibe, moments of magic can really take the crowd by surprise; this day he did just that giving the pack-out warehouse some spectacular moments of euphoria.
The Advent & Industrialyzer playing ‘The Bells’
I’m sure we’re not the first to reflect on this highlight, but this HAS to be included. ‘The Bells’ is an absolute classic within the worlds of techno and beyond and when someone drops this rasper of a track from Jeff Mills, you know things are about to get serious. Absolute pandemonium commenced and it was from this moment, the crowd was wild!
The Crowd Diversity
As with most electronic music festivals and events, the crowds drawn to the parties are from a range of backgrounds and locations. This is especially true with Dockyard festival, hosted during the week of ADE. The parties are very inclusive and act as a ‘good vibes only’ haven for the many nationalities that attend the gigantic 12-hour rave.
