Updates on the application process of the Resident Return Visa
Updates on the application process of the Resident Return Visa A new update has just been released by Australia’s Department of Immigration and Border Protection regarding the lodgement procedure for the Resident Return Visa, or the RRV.
Starting the 10th of September of this year, those who would like to apply for the Resident Return Visa, will be able to do so on the internet using an ImmiAccount.
For applicants to be able to submit a request for a visa, they would need to create their own personal account. This is now the preferred method of the immigration department, particularly for those who are still in Australia. The old application process will no longer be observed except if it involves provisional RRV, as it still has not been made available as of yet.
A warning has also been issued to the applicants that if they do not lodge their RRV application online, they may incur a non-Internet application charge.
A written RRV application, aside from form 1085, have just been announced as no longer available since the 10th of September, for applicants outside of Australia.
This means that if applicants do not have the option to lodge their application over the internet, then they would need to submit an application form 1085 to the nearest office of the Australian Department where they are located.
The Resident Return Visa (RRV): What It Is
The Resident Return Visa (subclass 155 and subclass 157), is a type of Australian visa that is granted to all non-citizen permanent residents of the country who would like to leave the country for only a period of time. This is usually applied for after the residence visa’s initial 5 year period has already reached its expiration.
The RRV is issued to both the former or current permanent residents of Australia, and even to former Australian citizens so they can be allowed to travel overseas and return to the country with a permanent resident status.
